Raccoons?

I know, I've been slacking on my posts lately, so I'm writing one now before I jet out to Japan and won't have access to a computer. Let's begin!

WATER FIGHT

This past weekend Seoul held it's annual water gun fight which just happens to be in the neighborhood I live in. So on a hot saturday morning I threw on some clothes, slapped on some makeup(I soon realized this was a very bad decision), and went out to find a suitable weapon. Now when I think water gun fight I think water splashes and kids racing around an open field. But no, not in Korea. I stepped out of my apartment to find the street packed with water wielding Koreans and the occasional foreigner. Some had high tech water guns that strapped to their back and had a much harder water streams than my measly 10 dollar gun I bought from a vendor. The water was provided by the city and stations were set up all along the street as well as a huge spaceship(the festival was space themed I guess) that blasted music DJed by a blue alien. Koreans really know how to throw a festival. They even had an alien performance with people dancing from ropes as they hung from a crane above the crowd in a huge round orb. Mind you this is free entry so I'm not sure how they are paying for all of it. The festival was a blast but I found that being a foreigner made me a target and everyone shot each other in the face leading to not only my makeup bleeding down my face turning me into a halloween character but also blindness from the water being shot into my eyes. Next time I'll take the hint and wear goggles.

RACOON CAFE

I'm trying to go to all the cool cafes in Korea before I leave, and that includes the raccoon cafe. The raccoon cafe is home to three raccoons, one corgi, and a capybara. Before this I had only seen a capybara in zoos, and I never imagine it would be sitting next to me while I sipped my cafe latte. At some point while sitting in the cafe area(its separate from where the animals are kept) the kind owner of the cafe dropped a live raccoon in my lap. I never imagined myself cuddling a raccoon, but they are surprisingly sweet and very cute. Here are some pics and clips from my time there!

BLOOPERS
-The older guy working at the convenience store below my apartment really likes me and even sometimes gives me free candy(not in a weird way he's a really cool guy, like in a dad way) and he even asks my land lady about me. I think he likes me because I always buy the Korean radish and he finds it funny I like really traditional korean foods. Plus he likes to tell me about the American actors he likes and if I know who Clint Eastwood is. LOL
-Korean guys continue to astound me
-Look at this amazing food I had a japanese restaurant!!

  1. Hi Elle! I've enjoyed reading your blogs this summer! It was fun reading and looking at the interesting things and places you've experienced. Will you be sending pics from Japan? How long are you staying there. Isn't that Daniel's country of choice? Have fun & let us know when you arrive back in the states! Love you! Aunt Donna
